Discovery Program for 2-Year-Olds and Young Threes*
Forest Hill Nursery School’s new Discovery Program is designed to help ease the transition for 2-year-olds (and their parents!) before embarking on a 3-year-old preschool program. The class meets once per week on Tuesdays, Wednesdays or Thursdays from 9:30 to 11:00 a.m. Children and parents will have the opportunity to discover learning through moderately structured activities, participate in “free discovery,” interact with new friends, and make lasting memories of early learning through play. This class will meet weekly for 90 minutes.

Additional enrichment Opportunities for 3-Day Students
PALS (Play, Academics, Lunch, Socialization) classes are held weekly. (The AM class meets on Wednesday after their regular class time. The PM class meets on Monday prior to their regular class time.) The PALS class allows students to socialize, extend their school day, work on literacy-based activities, have lunch, and have additional time to play and learn in small groups. Each class is based upon a fairy tale. The classes work on story development and retelling by acting, using puppets, and story props. The classes compare and contrast various versions of each story read.
STEAM (Science, Technology, Engineering, Art, Mathematics) classes are held monthly (September through December) and weekly (January through May) from 11:30-2:00 on Thursdays. STEAM classes allow students the opportunity to come to school an additional day of the week with their peers. Opportunities for STEAM activities are explored by the inspiration of children's literature. As the STEAM class is held on an additional school day, the students in both the AM and PM class have the opportunity to play and learn together. STEAM opportunities at FHNS include working with gears, exploring habitats, robots, basic coding, and engineering activities.
Our 3-day students love these classes! At Forest Hill Nursery School, we strive to offer opportunities for children to acquire a love of learning.
