Why is nursery school important for your child?

Although children can learn through play at home, they derive additional benefits from a well-rounded preschool program.  Here is a list of some positive behavioral outcomes which your child may demonstrate after attendance in preschool:

  • Exhibits a positive self-image and a wholesome attitude towards his or her body.
  • Enjoys learning new things in a school setting.
  • Solves and analyzes problems appropriate to age level.
  • Expresses emotions freely, while simultaneously considering the emotions of others.
  • Develops coordination of large and small muscles.
  • Maintains his or her individuality while respecting others.
  • Interacts with others and enjoys group camaraderie.
  • Expresses him or herself verbally in front of a group.
  • Creates original arts and crafts works using a wide variety of art media.
  • Demonstrates increasing independence towards the accomplishment of various tasks.as
  • Relies on adults outside the home for support.
  • Sings, dances and plays rhythm instruments.
  • Asks questions about his or her environment.
  • Uses new vocabulary meaningfully.
  • Shows an awareness of the five senses.
  • Experiments with creative play materials unavailable at home.

This is a partial list of general benefits your child may reap from the preschool experience.  The social, intellectual and physical skills acquired through participation in preschool complement the valuable learning experiences you provide your child at home.
